Abstract/Summary

This article provides the first, detailed analysis of the textual contents of this manuscript, and places these findings within the context of monastic life in the Anglo-Norman realm. It argues that the Reading manuscript can be placed within a small group of Anglo-Norman volumes; and examines the intellectual significance of this. Since computus is a subject which is relatively little understood it also discusses the place of the Reading book within the developments in computus at the time.
