This chapter aims to: • provide readers with an understanding of the key principles of urban design and ho these can inform placemaking; • explain how urban design relates to common planning practices and systems; • identify the skills that planners need to recognise the value of good urban design; • help planners identify opportunities for, and support others in, the delivery of good place-making.
