Abstract/Summary

Some sources have attributed the introduction of Persian printing to Iran to Mirza Zayn-ul-Abedin of Tabriz; however, this attribution cannot be verified. Verifiable evidence concerning the first Persian printing press and printed books in Iran is extremely rare, and several aspects of this history remain ambiguous. This article addresses one of the main discrepancies in the information available on the colophon of the earliest Persian publication in Iran that its physical existence has been verified, and reports of an earlier publication, which if ever existed, has not yet come to light.
