Abstract/Summary

This chapter examines the editorial practices of Esther Tusquets (1936-2013) and Rosa Regàs (b. 1933), two women with intense anti-Francoist convictions, who, at the head of their respective publishing houses, Lumen and La Gaya Ciencia, defied the regime and contributed to constructing the symbolic layout of the democratic and modern Spain. In order to trace their profiles and assess the scope of their professional achievements, this chapter considers both their catalogues and the valuable autobiographical testimonies they left behind.
