Abstract/Summary

The chapter offers the intellectual property law history (mostly patents and trade marks) of one of the most popular and innovative everyday objects, the “post-it”. Taking off from stories of IP dispute and litigation regarding the post-it notes, the chapter develops an understanding of how innovation and creativity can work within the legal framework and, more broadly, it shows how IP has developed and worked within history, culture and society.
