CentAUR - How to Import Items

You can import metadata (bibliographic details) into the repository, rather than creating a record from scratch. You will then need to edit the record to complete information about the item ( e.g. add an abstract, specifiy whether it has been peer reviewed, add School and Subject), to upload a full text and to complete the deposit process.

Importing via DOI

  1. Click Manage deposits in CentAUR's left menu.
  2. On your Manage deposits page, click on the drop down next to 'Import', and select 'DOI (via CrossRef)'.
  3. Still on the Manage deposits page, select 'Import'. This takes you to the next page, with the 'paste data' tab open as the default.
  4. In the text box enter the DOI(s), with each DOI on a separate line e.g.:
    10.1002/fld.1837
    10.1016/j.atmosenv.2008.11.034
    10.1039/b807747a

  5. Click 'Import items'.
  6. The imported items will appear highlighted yellow in your Work area on your Manage deposits page. Click on the pencil & paper icon to open and complete the mandatory fields to finish the deposit process. NB Occasionally the authors and page numbers are not fully imported - please check and complete.

Importing via PubMed ID

  1. Click Manage deposits in CentAUR's left menu.
  2. On your Manage deposits page, click on the drop down next to 'Import', and select 'PubMed ID'.
  3. Still on the Manage deposits page, select 'Import'. This takes you to the next page, with the 'paste data' tab open as the default.
  4. In the text box enter the PubMed ID(s), with each ID on a separate line e.g.:
    19759865
    19579740

  5. Click 'Import items'.
  6. The imported items will appear highlighted yellow in your Work area on your Manage deposits page. Click on the pencil & paper icon to open and complete the mandatory fields to finish the deposit process.

Importing from EndNote

You will need to save the EndNote library to the correct EndNote export text format to enable you to import it

In EndNote

  1. Open your EndNote Library. In Edit, select Output styles and tick 'EndNote export'
  2. In the drop down menu at the top of the screen, select 'EndNote Export' from the list of all output styles.
  3. Select all or some of the records in the EndNote library
  4. Go to File, select Export, and save the records as a .txt file. The records in the .txt file should appear in this format:
    %0 Book
    %A Brooks, G
    %A Humphrey, T
    %D 2005
%T Cell Cycle Protocols: Methods and Techniques
    %B Methods in Molecular Biology
