Structurally, the genus has very consistent vegetative and fertile characters. As the genus undergoes revision, it is becoming clear that it contains great morphological variation within the strict vegetative and reproductive character constraints found in the genus. This paper describes the variation found in the genus and its significance in taxon delimitation.
