Abstract/SummaryThis chapter looks at books which will support the very young through their earliest childhood and first few years of schooling. Learning to read can be hard but it is a lot harder if you never encounter the sort of literature that will engage you and motivate you to see the whole learning process as worthwhile. The chapter considers ways to share great texts with young children and how to select good books to share.
