Abstract/Summary

This book features four articles on various aspects of the history of letterforms and type, encompassing early nineteenth-century English jobbing printing, stencil letters made with dies in the USA, German posters printed in red and black in the nineteenth century, and methods for placing letters next to each other from the mid fifteenth century to the present day. The book is supplemented by photographs, periodical notices, and short essays about public lettering in Leipzig. Articles, essays, and other written contributions are in German, with accompanying English translations.
