Abstract/Summary

Methodologies for researching management reflect the fact that management theories originated primarily in economically developed Western societies. Such methodologies may not provide accurate data in under-researched geographical regions where collecting and evaluating evidence about management may be particularly difficult for outsiders. As an example, we examine the case of the Arab Middle East, outlining the challenges to conducting traditional (Western style) management research in such regions, and indicating some opportunities that they offer. We offer some proposals for innovative ways of collecting data in such regions.
