Abstract/Summary

This chapter addresses context effects on the assessment of oral fluency in a second language (L2) as a key aspect of L2 speaking ability. Here, context refers to different factors, circumstances or environments that influence the interpretation, measurement and evaluation of L2 fluency, particularly in relation to formal assessment.
